When it comes to family photography, there are two main styles to choose from: candid or posed portraits. Both styles have their own unique characteristics, and the one that's right for you will depend on your family's preferences, the type of memories you want to capture and perhaps even the occasion.
Candid family photography, also known as lifestyle photography, focuses on capturing natural and unplanned moments. As a West London family photographer, this is my favourite approach and I will take photographs of your family as they interact and play together, giving only subtle direction for poses to ensure we capture everyone at their best. This style of photography is great for documenting the essence of your family and results in beautiful, timeless images using a storytelling manner.
On the other hand, posed family photography is more formal. The vast majority of my family photography clients approach me for lifestyle images, but may ask for a handful of more posed images as part of the overall session. As a Chelsea family photographer, I will then gently direct and position you and your loved ones, creating classic family portraits.
When deciding which style of family photography in London is right for you, consider the following:
#1 If you're looking to capture real emotions and your family's personalities in beautiful and raw images, candid family photography is right for you
#2 If you plan to share some images with the grandparents and wider family, more posed images work well too.
# 3 Can't decide? Let's discuss - I will always tailor my session to your preferences.
