What are the best London Family Photoshoot Locations? If we are heading outside your home, we are certainly spoiled with many wonderful outdoor photoshoot locations dotted around London – many of which look like they’re actually far away in the countryside.

If you are planning on a maternity, baby or family photoshoot outside your home and are still looking for some photography inspiration, look no further than my top London family photoshoot locations below!

South West London Family Photoshoot Locations: 1. Chiswick House & Gardens

Chiswick House provides such a beautiful and elegant backdrop to any West London family photo session. The villa itself is a beautiful example of 18th-century British architecture and was designed by the architect Lord Burlington. It was inspired by the classical architecture of ancient Rome and Greece, and was designed as a celebration of the Enlightenment and the ideals of the Age of Reason. The house and gardens have been used as filming locations for a number of movies and TV shows, including “Bridget Jones’s Diary,” “Pride and Prejudice,” and “Downton Abbey.”

The location is a popular spot for picnics, walks, and relaxation. It’s easy to spend hours wandering around the stunning grounds and landscaped gardens. It makes for a wonderful family day out and there are plenty photo opportunities everywhere here – as well as a playground and cafe!

South West London Family Photoshoot Locations: 2. Fulham Palace & Bishops Park

Another favourite for both indoor and outdoor photoshoot locations in London is Fulham Palace, a beautiful Grade I listed building with medieval origins. It was the residence of the Bishop of London for over 1,300 years, from the 7th century until 1975. The palace is surrounded by 13 acres of beautiful gardens, which include a walled garden, a botanical garden, and a 19th-century chapel. The gardens also feature a number of historic trees and plants, including a 500-year-old oak tree.

The Walled Garden has some stunning cherry blossoms around April time, wisteria in late April to early May and other romantic corners to enjoy year round. The palace also hosts a number of family-friendly events and activities, including craft workshops, storytelling sessions, and nature walks.

Finally, it’s also a brilliant location if the British weather doesn’t quite play ball – we took some beautifully moody and ethereal photos on a recent shoot indoors!

South West London Family Photoshoot Locations: 3. Battersea Park

Another firm family photoshoot location favourite is Battersea Park. Located on the south bank of the Thames, this 200-acre park boasts beautiful gardens, a boating lake, peace pagoda, old English garden and picturesque Thames promenade. Wander along the park’s riverside promenade and take in the stunning views of the Thames, or find solace amidst the lush foliage of the park’s many wooded areas.

The images below took place after an in-home session. The family was keen to take advantage of the autumn sun so we headed to nearby Battersea Park for a few final images to round off this newborn portrait session.

Central London Family Photoshoot Locations: 4. Italian Gardens, Hyde Park

Hyde Park offers countless spots for a family photoshoot in London. The Italian Gardens are a beautiful and tranquil oasis located in the heart of Hyde Park in London. They were designed in the 1860s by the architect James Pennethorne, and feature a stunning array of fountains, sculptures, and ornamental flower beds. The centerpiece of the Italian Gardens is the large circular pool, which is surrounded by ornamental basins and a series of intricate water jets. The pool is home to beautiful water lilies and other aquatic plants, and is a popular spot as a London Family Photoshoot location.

I met up with a lovely mum of two last spring to capture some motherhood portraits together. As the family live by close by and spend a lot of time around the gardens and the park itself, it was not only a stunning backdrop but also a place that’s particularly meaningful to her and her children.

South East London Family Photoshoot Locations: 5. The Rookery Gardens

Nestled amidst a residential area of Streatham, Rookery Gardens is a hidden gem waiting to be explored. This enchanting green oasis is situated within the Streatham Common neighbourhood and offers a tranquil and unexpected retreat. The gardens were created on the site of an old manor house, which was once part of the historic Streatham Wells Spa. As you meander along the winding paths, you’ll be greeted with an array of vibrant flowers, lush foliage and different areas including an ornamental pond, a beautiful rose garden and other spots that offer perfect backdrops for family photography.

I met a lovely mum here last summer to take maternity photographs together. Rookery Gardens is local to her and her partner so this was the perfect place to capture her journey to motherhood together.

North London Family Photoshoot Locations: 6. Hampstead Pergola

Hampstead Pergola & Gardens is one of my favourite locations. Established in 1904 by philanthropist Lord Leverhulme, this hidden gem showcases stunning Edwardian architecture and lush gardens, making it an idyllic spot for any type of family photography. It looks like something out of a movie!

The centrepiece of this stunning London family photoshoot location is the Pergola, a magnificent timber and stone structure adorned with climbing plants and draped with wisteria. Wander through its column-lined walkways and marvel at the beautiful views of the surrounding gardens. The Hill Gardens feature a series of terraces, elegant lawns, and vibrant flowerbeds, providing a serene backdrop for the Pergola.

Throughout the year, the gardens are adorned with seasonal blooms, offering ever-changing colours. This maternity session took place on a beautiful summer’s day and the foliage provided some welcome shade from the morning sun.
